Hyaluronic Acid
Is a sugar that can bind over 1,000 times its weight in water, hyaluronic acid (“HA”) is commonly used as an injectable filler for wrinkles in fillers such as Restylane and Juvéderm, and they’re usually injected with a syringe.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid (which also goes by the names hyaluronan or hyaluronate) is a sugar. It is not be confused with other acids like salicylic or glycolic acids, which exfoliate away dead skin cells. When found naturally within the body, it provides cushioning and lubrication agent for our joints, nerves, hair, skin and eyes.
What does Hyaluronic Acid Do For Your Skin?
Hyaluronic acid can help your skin look and feel more supple. Approximately 50% of hyaluronic acid in your body is in your skin, where it binds to water to help retain moisture. When applied within the surface or top layers of the skin, hyaluronic acid serums can reduce wrinkles, redness and dermatitis.
In skincare, hyaluronic acid is an exceptional product to use in combination with microneedling. Microneeding with (“HA”) is one of the most natural treatments for your skin. This formula contains a high percentage of High Molecular Weight (HMW) HyaluronicAcid, as research shows lower molecular weights being pro-inflammatory in the skin. Due to the clean nature of the formulation, utilizing only native human molecules, this glide is especially suitable to protect and soothe “open skin” and provides rapid hydration to compromised tissue.
Why HA and Microneedling is Amazing in Ottawa
Hyaluronic acid requires a humid environment in order to make use of the moisture binding properties of the “HA” molecules.
