Bookkeeper (Contract - Remote, Canada)

Contractor

Contract bookkeeper to provide monthly bookkeeping, monthly reconciliations, monthly landlord revenue reporting, annual HST support, and a CPA-ready year-end package for two corporations. Work is remote, Canadian-based only. Engagement follows a clearly defined scope (no audit / no legal / no U.S. filings).

Scope of Services

  • Monthly bookkeeping for two corporations.
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank, chequing, and merchant/payment processor accounts (e.g. Square, Stripe).
  • Tracking sales from e-commerce and the scheduling system and matching to deposits.
  • Monthly revenue report to the landlord.
  • Year-end financial reporting package for the CPA by October 15 annually.
  • Annual HST filing.
  • Practice in accordance with Canadian GAAP; maintain secure, auditable records.

Exclusions

  • Payroll and remittances.
  • Corporate annual returns or filings.
  • Audit, legal, or U.S. filing services.
  • Compilation engagements and engagement reviews.

Engagement Structure

This is not a traditional employment position with set hours or shifts. The engagement operates on a supplier or service-provider basis, where compensation is tied to the completion and quality of specific deliverables rather than hourly attendance. The contractor manages their own time and workflow to meet defined deadlines and deliverables.

Contract Basics

  • Independent contractor invoices monthly at agreed amount.
  • Remote, Canada residents/entities only.
  • Work is results-based and self-directed within the defined scope.
  • Automatic renewal unless notice is given.
  • Preferred minimum contract term: two years.

Qualifications

  • Operates as a dedicated, full-time bookkeeping service with 3+ years of Canadian bookkeeping experience for small business.
  • Authorized to provide bookkeeping services in Canada and in good standing with required professional bodies.
  • Experience preparing CPA-ready year-end packages.
  • Comfort with multi-source revenue (e-commerce + scheduling).
